Brake shoes are devices that slow or stop a wheel by being pressed directly against the wheel tread (the surface that comes in contact with the rail). Apart from braking functions they also serve to keep the tread clean and a single wheel can have 1 or 2 of these installed.
The first UIC-approved synthetic LL brake shoes, is worldwide used for the replacement of cast iron brake shoes. It has a beneficial effect on the life cycle cost (LCC) of the wagon.
Description of LL brake shoe
Asbestos-free, oil-proof, moulded friction material. It contains resins, elastomers, friction modifiers and mineral fibres reinforcing its structure.
Does not show aggressiveness to the anti-friction material and ensures quiet braking without sparking. It gives a life time several times higher than a cast iron b「ake shoe. It has a high thermal resistance and a stable coefficient of friction in variable atmospheric conditions.
Application of LL brake shoe
Composite brake shoe type “LL” for freight car for S traffic, and for passenger cars up to 120 kph. It replaces cast iron brake shoes without a necessity to change a construction of a braking system. The freight cars equipped with the FR510 brake shoes fulfill the requirements of the TSI NOISE.Recommended unit pressure [N/cm2］: <=150
