Rail Joints, also called railway fish plate or joint bar, splice bar, is a metal joint bar connected to the ends of two rails to bond them together. A quality rail joint bar can largely reduce the impact of the wheels to the jointing sections of the rail tracks and increase the continuity and the steadiness of the train when passing through the jointing sections.
There is a kind of joint bar called insulated rail joint, or block joint. This type insulated rail joint is made of insulating composite material (high-performance polyurethane resin as the matrix material and glass fiber as the reinforcement material), and is manufactured by the pultrusion process. It is used for electrical resistance. So we called it composite insulated rail joint.
